(This vibrant, immune-boosting juice is ideal for the postpartum period)
Ingredients:
- 3 large carrots (peeled)
- 1 orange (peeled)
- ½ lemon (peeled)
- 1-inch fresh turmeric root (or ¼ tsp ground turmeric)
- 1-inch fresh ginger
- ½ cup water or coconut water (optional, to thin)
- Pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)
Method:
- Peel the carrots, orange, lemon, turmeric, and ginger.
- Chop into pieces small enough for your juicer chute.
- Juice in this order: Start with the carrots, followed by orange, lemon, turmeric, and ginger.
- Juice slowly to maximize yield, especially from softer fruits like citrus.
- Pour juice into a glass or pitcher.
- Stir in a pinch of black pepper to activate the anti-inflammatory compounds in turmeric
- If the juice is too strong or thick, stir in water or coconut water to taste.
- This also adds hydration and electrolytes—important postpartum!
- Serve: Pour over ice or chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.
Why It’s Great Postpartum:
Carrots and citrus deliver beta-carotene and vitamin C, which aid in tissue repair and collagen production. Turmeric and ginger reduce inflammation and support immune function—especially helpful after the physical stress of childbirth.
